Official Holiday Dates for the Private Sector

The private sector workforce in UAE will get public holiday from Sunday March 30, 2025 until the end of either Tuesday April 1, 2025 or Wednesday April 2, 2025. The last day of the break depends on how many days Ramadan lasts between 29 or 30.

  • If Ramadan lasts 29 days, the holiday will end on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
  • If Ramadan lasts 30 days, the holiday will extend to Wednesday, April 2, 2025.

How the Islamic Calendar Determines the Holiday

The Islamic Hijri lunar calendar uses 29 or 30 days to complete each month. Each month lasts 29 or 30 days according to when the crescent moon becomes visible to human sight. A formal announcement about the duration of Ramadan will be made on Friday March 28th 2025 to determine the final dates of the holiday schedule.

The UAE celebrates Eid Al Fitr as its most important holiday after Ramadan ends because the month includes Muslim fasting and prayer and spiritual contemplation. It is a time for:

  • Family Gatherings: Residents of the UAE celebrate Eid Al Fitr with their families through delightful meals and present exchanges.
  • Charitable Giving: During this time Muslims must practice charity activities by giving donations while providing assistance to those who need help.
  • Travel and Staycations: Travelers prefer to visit Dubai along with Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah during the long weekend because these destinations are among the most popular for brief vacations and staycations.

How This Holiday Compares to Public Sector Holidays

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has established congruent Eid Al Fitr dates for employees working in public institutions to match the private sector holiday period. Public employees will observe their holiday from April 1 or April 2 of 2025 based on the lunar calendar.

Planning for the Eid Break

People who want to maximize their vacation period have various opportunities to choose from:
